I got to scrapbook with my bff, Christa, and the fun ladies from ScrapMuch? this past Saturday and had fun creating a few pages while visiting with some scrappy friends!
These papers came out of the beautiful May kit from Scrappin' Great Deals.
I decided on the photo first, then browsed through my papers, and when I found the kit, I knew it would work.
I created a sketch for myself and then got to work, and it came together really quite quickly once those decisions were made. I will redraw my sketch so it's not on a small scrap, and share it with you here soon!
I did lots of inking and distressing on this layout, and to create the curled edges and corners, I gently bent the papers around a bamboo skewer. The bamboo skewer has recently became a staple tool in my toolbox - it is so useful not only for distressing, but for curving flower petals, pressing down on pieces as I adhere (for example in the shoes), for spreading glitter, etc.
This preprinted wooden puzzle piece came in the kit. I inked it up and layered pieces onto it. The frame is from a sticker sheet and I added the sticker letters to it.
I love the text paper all inked and torn and curled, don't you?
These punched out butterflies were also in the kit (amazing value in this kit, wouldn't you say? I have enough supplies to make at least 3 more layouts, I think). I really <3 these butterflies and will have to keep my eye open for that punch!
I layered them on top of each other and added the Stickles and pearls for a little extra oomph.
The title"Family", is made using My Little Shoebox glittery alpha stickers and I may have to track down more, because they are almost all gone. Can you tell which letters I had to make up because I was out of them premade? The Y is actually an X that I cut the right leg from. I used that little leg to make the crossbar and attached it to an upside down V, creating an A. Do you get mileage from your alphabet sets? What tips have you got for using up those letters that seem to not be required as much as others?
The photo in the layout is of my brother and me, back in 1994! Dare I say that? We decided to surprise our parents with real photos, taken by a photographer, as our Christmas gift to them.
Well that was me then, and this is me now. Today is my birthday and I've been blessed in so many ways today and this weekend, so how about I share a little gift with you! Yes, you read right - I'm going to dig into my stash and dig up a few treasures to send off to one of you! All you have to do to win this little RAK, is leave me a comment on your favourite way to use up those oddball leftover letters. Good luck! I will make the draw on August 22nd, so you have exactly 2 weeks to leave a comment and tell your friends to, too!
Thanks for dropping by!
Blessings - Ann
