Lots to Show You Today

This is DD's grade four photo.

White gel pen on the scalloped half circle, Crystal Effects (like Glassy Glaze) accents the paper cut-out flowers, felt flowers, Prima flowers, brads, border punches and ink.

We went camping up north in August and celebrated our anniversary shortly after our return. The views up there inspired this card for DH. The sky is sponged with about 3 or 4 colours of ink. Actually lots of sponging on this card if I recall. Images are stamped on glossy cardstock.

DD had her birthday not too long ago and she & her friends went horseback riding for her party. I borrowed some stamps from a friend to play with the horse theme. Lots of background stamping. The colouring is a combination of Copics and Stampin' Up! markers.

The title for this double pager is Oopsie Daisy and tells the story of the reaction when Sarah's autograph book falls during her character greeting with Daisy Duck. The right page was done first, following a sketch challenge posted by Dee during a recent online crop at Two Scrapbook Friends. The left page followed a little later in the day.

The paper flowers were created by punching out scalloped circles and then cutting in toward the centre. Glimmer mist tints the felt branch. Lots of glitter on the chipboard title. Inked edges.

DD also used the sketch challenge for her 8x8 page - didn't she do a great job!

Sale-A-Bration Class Cards

Aren't these great cards?

These are 3 of the 5 cards that we'll be making later this month at the Sale-A-Bration Occasions cards class. We'll be stamping 2 each of 5 designs to get a bit restocked on those cards that you always need on hand - birthday, baby, friendship, thank you. Because we're making 10 cards, these are going to remain somewhat simple and quick.

The cards pictured use Lots of Thoughts or So Many Scallops. We'll also be using Friendship Blooms for some of the other cards. Our cards will incorporate ribbons, glitter, designer paper and punches.

December is not just for Christmas - birthday cards

Two of my friends had birthdays this month - here are their cards:

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Sarah's 8th birthday is on Thursday, but we are celebrating it tomorrow, with a house full of family.

I went on-line and found this great pattern for the cake. Once I knew I was doing the sunglasses for the cake, I knew the card would have to match. Carolyn King had posted a cute sunglasses-style card online, so that was my starting point.

I traced a pair of sunglasses onto copy paper to create my template. Once I had my template cut out, I adhered it temporarily with Dotto to Lavender Lace cardstock and cut around it. I scored them at the hinge points. Then the fun begin, because I wanted to make them girly and blingy. I used the small swirly from Priceless and stamped with craft ink, then sprinkled on the Hologram Highlights and embossed. I used Carolyn's idea of making the shades part lift up to reveal a message. My shades are silver and punched out with the large oval punch. I scored along the top edge and used the Sticky Strip to adhere them to the glasses. Under the shades, I stamped Happy Birthday on one side and Special Daughter on the other using Everyday Flexible Phrases. I doodled  with the white gel pen and smeared it with my finger to create a rounded, reflective quality on the oval lenses. The corner bling was created by layering punched out flowers and pulling them together with a rhinestone brad. This card is really sparkly in person!

I have never given her a non-rectangle card before, so I think this will be a delightful surprise.
