You may recall that the purpose of the Inspiration Elevator challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to mature as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges at the Inspiration Elevator Blog.
This month we are celebrating our anniversary with a BLOG HOP! So be sure to hop from blog to blog below as our designers are offering prizes! We also welcome Katherine Sutton as a guest designer to Inspiration Elevator! Katharine has Guest Designed for us and her fabulous style will inspire you to take your scrapbooking to a new level!
Now for our Challenge:
It's a 2-part challenge since it's created by Christa and Ann!
The first part of the challenge is to use a selfie. We are all a part of social media to some extent, so selfies are everywhere. "Call it another trend in narcissism, or call it art, but the "selfie" has become a mainstay of our virtual identity."
Here are a couple articles for taking a good selfie, if this makes you uncomfortable (as it does for me - A)

The second part of the challenge is this:
Every month the reveal preamble begins with:
"You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group is to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and extend ourselves."
So this month we'd like you to share something about scrapbooking. It could be why you scrapbook, what you love best, what you get out of it, your most amazing experience or, where you see your craft/hobby/art in the future.

I suggested the selfie part of the challenge, and for me, this really was a challenge, for a number of reasons:
1. I don't necessarily shy away from the camera, but in our family, I'm usually the one behind it.
2. My phone does not have a two-way camera, causing me to have to do strange things with body position in order to get a selfie using my phone. This in turn leads to lots of photos of backgrounds, half a face, arms, etc.
For the second part of the challenge, I chose to journal briefly about my scrapbooking journey - how the emphasis has shifted over the last decade.
Another warped page because of all my techniques but these do settle down with time. I love my background!!! I went back to something I haven't done in awhile, using modeling paste through a large stencil and then misting over top. I spritzed with a little water too, to get the colours to run and blend.
Here's a little detail of the canvas treated with gelatos, the background and whatever else I have going on.
Giveaway time:
Please leave a comment here and on the Inspiration Elevator blog to be entered. I am giving away a 6 x 6 pad. I'll leave this open for a week and then come back and tell you the winner.
Thanks for joining in our celebrations!
Remember to hop around to the other blogs and see what out designers have created and what prizes are up for grabs! (Be sure to read the instructions as each designer has her own requirements to win!)
I hope you feel inspired to play along with our challenge this month, and when you do, please share it using the linky tool on our Inspiration Elevator blog and/or our Inspiration Elevator Facebook page. We'd LOVE to see what you made!

LOve this page! Great design- the outlined water colored butterflies look fantastic and really fir the theme challenge. I LOVE the stencil work behind the page and the running color really gives the design some punch. I feel the same about selfies- they aren't horrible but they sure are a challenge to tackle creatively. I think there are several camera timer apps available- that's what I'm going to look into next because a bunch of photos of my enlarged head floating in the frame can be quite disconcerting- lol.

Beautiful selfie, my friend! I love your artistic touches. Adding water to those colours really has a wonderful effect! I love being on this journey with you. xo
